Human Resources Generalist

HR GENERALIST

With offices located in both the Upper Peninsula and in Traverse City, and serving areas throughout Upper and Northern Lower Michigan, Michigan Broadband Services is a local provider of FTTH, internet, video, and telephony services.  We are currently seeking a full-time HR Generalist to join our growing team.

This position will assist with implementing processes and programs that advance effective recruiting and retention of the company's most important asset to our team members.  Key functions for this position will be assisting with staffing, training, employment, and safety.  This role carries out administrative work involving human resources functions and maintains related records; develops and improves policies, programs, and procedures to improve the effectiveness of HR and Operations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates new hire process for managing staff including orientation and new hire paperwork.
• Handles employment-related inquiries from employees and escalates as needed.
• Ability to answer employee questions and concerns regarding procedures or employee handbook interpretations. Assists with employee inquiries, performance review process, coaching, counseling, and terminations.
• Assists with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
• Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and guidelines while operating ethically to protect the assets and image of the company.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as per business need.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Human Resources
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Results oriented with ability to effectively manage projects and tight deadlines while working effectively across departments.
• Service oriented, collaborative approach with exceptional follow-up and organization skills.
• Must possess excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
• Must be able to maintain a schedule availability flexible to the business demands.
