Banquet servers serve food and beverage to banquet guests. Banquet Servers also assist with set-up and preparation of the rooms for banquets, meetings and other events. Banquet servers greet guests and do side work related to banquet department operations.

Responsibilities and requirements of a Banquet Server include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Greet guests.
  • Set rooms for banquets, meetings and other special events, including (but not limited to) placing tables, linens, tabletop equipment and decorations.
  • Serve food and beverages to banquet guests.
  • Report to management all inconsistencies in food and beverage preparation and presentation.
  • Assist with clearing function rooms of equipment, linens, tables and other materials .
  • Assist banquet bartenders as needed.
  • Clean work areas and equipment.
  • Perform various preparation and side tasks, such as folding napkins and filling dispensers
  • Report to management all comments from customers and prospective customers that affect the Company's image or services.
  • Complete checklists each shift.
  • Complete other assignments and perform other duties as directed by management.
  • Education: There are no educational requirements for this position.
  • Citizenship: Proof of United States citizenship or authorization to work in the United States.
  • Language Skills: Able to read Event Orders and menus in English. Able to understand and be understood during English conversations with guests, hotel staff and visitors.
  • Equipment Skills: Able to use all banquet and meeting equipment.
  • Personal Skills and Characteristics: Have good organizational skills and attention to detail. Have good initiative, work habits and flexibility. Able to follow instructions.
  • Work Experience: Have worked in a restaurant, bar or banquet operation.
  • Safety and Health Knowledge: Knowledgeable on the Company's safety, security and health policies as they apply to banquets and meetings.
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Knowledge: Knowledgeable on laws and regulations regarding accommodating guests with disabilities and physical limitations.
  • Physical Requirements: Able to safely lift and carry 50 pounds for carrying food trays, tables, banquet equipment, meeting equipment, ice and containers of dirty dishes. Able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach and squat for using under-counter and overhead equipment and storage. Able to stand for periods of eight hours with breaks. Able to climb and descend stairs and lift and carry materials on stairs.
  • Participate in Company-sponsored continuing education and training programs.
  • Maintain clean, safe, secure and organized work areas. Maintain safe and secure guest areas.
