SUMMARY

The Outreach Instructional Aide position, under the direction of the Outreach Itinerant Support and the supervision of the Outreach Services Supervisor, is responsible for delivering services in a student’s classroom within the home school district. Such services are based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and focus on increasing skill repertoires (e.g., communication skills, social skills, adaptive functioning skills, academic skills), while weakening undesirable behaviors. In addition, the Outreach Instructional Aide implements adapted academic programming, Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP), student goals, and specially designed instruction as outlined in the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP). In order to assess student progress, the Outreach Instuctional Aide collects and charts data on a regular basis.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Fully implements all assigned student plans and programs with fidelity across school environments
  • Accurately completes documentation requirements in the appropriate timeframe (e.g., daily, monthly)
    • Completes Vista required forms such as billing log, service log, timecard
  • Tracks service delivery in accordance with IEP service levels and school district contracts
  • Bills for services delivered as outlined in the school district contract
  • Collects and charts data related to student behavior, goals, and prescribed programming
  • Effectively communicates with IEP teams and parents in clear and concise manner that fosters collaboration among the team
  • Demonstrates positive and professional interactions with students, family members, and IEP teams
  • Completes other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The following positions or frequent movements are typical of the job: sitting, walking, running, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, kneeling, and crawling, often for extended periods of the workday.

The position requires that an individual be able to learn new tasks quickly and effectively. Job requirements may change frequently. The ability to understand and carry out detailed, involved, instructions is mandatory. The incumbent must be able to travel to multiple locations as needed through their own self-arranged transportation, when needed to conduct organizational business. Subject to inside environmental conditions.


EXPECTED SCHEDULE- PRN EMPLOYEE

Hours worked are as needed as the situation arises to provide coverage when full-time assigned OIAs have planned or unplanned PTO or FMLA. Hours may be available within the 10-month school year from mid-August through early June or during an extended school year (ESY) calendar should the student’s IEP warrant the need. ESY typically occurs during the months of June and July. Days and hours of the week are agreed upon by Vista leadership, the Outreach calendar, and the school district calendar.

This position’s daily work hours in the regular school year are 7.5 hours per day, starting at 8:00am and ending at 3:30pm. ESY hours are 4 hours per day, starting at 8:00am and ending at 12pm. The PRN schedule may vary due to availability and need.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum High School Diploma required (if only high school diploma, PA Instructional Aide test must be taken and passed)
  • Successful completion of Safe and Positive Approaches Training or other crisis management training


STRONGLY DESIRED

  • Minimum of 2 year post secondary education experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or Education field highly desired


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Previous experience or knowledge delivering Applied Behavior Analysis services to individuals with Autism highly desired
  • Takes initative and demonstrates problem solving skills
  • Basic word and excel skills preferred
