The Data Analyst (DA) will be experienced and proficient in healthcare claims processing as it applies to Medicare. The DA will review and analyze training evaluation feedback, industry behaviors, and communications, and provide sound interpretations and recommendations based on research. The DA will provide cross-departmental support to identify program trends. The DA must be skilled with the analysis of big data and able to display complex data findings in meaningful visual formats. The DA must understand all systems that communicate to process payment. The DA will understand the change management process for system changes and support test case documentation. The DA must understand how the data connects to internal and external systems for payment. The DA will build queries to support client requests and collaborate to provide solutions that are aligned with the customer’s goals. The DA is responsible for project management tracking for the supported areas.


Duties:

  • Collect, manage, mine, analyze, interpret, and create visual representation of big data and utilize appropriate reporting tools.
  • Identify patterns in public health data, as it relates to Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage programs.
  • Analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems and design computer systems to process data.
  • Conduct research, surveys, and interviews to gain an understanding of client’s business.
  • Analyze statistics.
  • Detect issues and investigate potential solutions.
  • Assess pros and cons of possible strategies.
  • Develop recommendations for improvements.
  • Compile information and professionally present findings to clients.
  • Set schedules with the client and implement agreed solutions.
  • Develop and implement new procedures of training.
  • Re-test for efficacy, as needed.
  • Participate in networking activities.
  • Develop new tools and techniques in areas of expertise for future client work.
  • Develop SQL queries against a complex Teradata data model to retrieve and analyze specific records and create actionable recommendations for the user.
  • Coordinate with technical content consultants to provide data needed to develop policy and operational documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business intelligence, or related technical discipline
  • 1-2 years of healthcare experience
  • 3 years of working experience
  • Experience with SPSS, SAS, R, and Tableau
  • Knowledge of public policy issues, especially related to Medicare Parts C and D
  • Proven ability to present statistical data outputs
  • Natural Language Processing and PowerBI experience a plus
  • Experience with data modeling and simulation
  • Direct experience working with decision makers and related team members
  • Exceptional written and oral skills sufficient to communicate highly complex technical material effectively with non-technical and technical business clients and teams
  • Experience conducting pertinent research and applying analytical methodology
  • Outstanding customer-orientation and interpersonal skills
  • Self-directed and detail-oriented
  • Knowledge of programs or organizations and activities related to Medicare Parts C and D
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgement in all phases of analysis (ranging from sorting out high priority problems, to sifting evidence, and framing feasible options)
  • Ability to work effectively under the pressure with tight timeframes and deadlines
