Charge Nurse

Full Time or Part Time position

Night Shift, 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

This position is eligible for the weekend incentive program. The weekend incentive program is not required for this position, but the candidate may choose weekend program requirements and additional pay if desired.

The charge nurse position has daily oversight for both ED and med/surg departments, as well as the responsibility to take patients in both ED and med/surg as census requires. HCH Charge Nurses also have monthly meeting requirements and are expected to serve as a leader within the department and organization. Charge nurse assigns duties and roles to nursing staff each shift, making department decisions in accordance with HCH policies and procedures, assumes responsibility for staffing. This is not a supervisory position, and this role does not have any direct reports.

Requirements

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Must have a current, valid Registered Nurse License issued by the Kansas State Board of Nursing.
• Must have current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Must have or obtain TNCC and PALS.
• Must have a minimum of one year nursing experience in acute or emergency department care.
• Must be capable of communicating clearly (reading, writing, and speaking) in the English Language. Must be capable of reading and comprehending written policies/procedures and operation/maintenance instructions. Must have the ability to receive and relay phone or other business related messages.
