Position Title:  Economic Mobility Specialist

Reports to: Family Development Coordinator

Job Type/ Classification:  Full Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt

Salary:  from $19hr based on education and experience

Position Summary: The Economic Mobility Specialist will play a crucial role in helping individuals and families overcome financial barriers and achieve upward economic mobility. This position will work closely with clients to assess their needs, develop personalized plans, and connect them with resources and services that can support their economic growth. 

Principal Responsibilities:

Provides one-to-one Mobility Mentoring coaching to adult participants on goals related to upward economic mobility, including housing, budgeting, career and education, child care, health care, and more.  Primary areas of focus could include:

1. Financial Coaching: This position is responsible for advancing economic growth of the families served at Dream Center through:

• Creating budgets
• Managing debt
• Setting financial goals 
• Developing strategies to increase credit score
• Maintain knowledge of public benefits available for families and the various entryways to obtaining them. 

2. Housing Stability Coaching: This position is responsible for providing individuals and families with the necessary tools and support to maintain stable and secure housing. By coaching housing stability, we aim to empower individuals and promote long-term housing security by:

• Navigating complexities of the housing market
• Helping to understand the rights and responsibilities as tenants
• Develop strategies to prevent eviction or homelessness

3. Life Skills Coaching: This position is responsible for helping individuals and families develop and enhance essential skills that can contribute to their personal growth and success. This position provides guidance in these areas:

• Communication 
• Problem-Solving
• Decision-Making
• Goal-Setting
• Time-Management
• Self-efficacy

The Economic Mobility Specialist will coordinate with additional Dream Center Evansville staff to ensure DCE students are prepared for college, career, and life readiness, promoting economic mobility with students.

This position will help empower individuals to reach their full potential and lead fulfilling lives. 

Job Specifications Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience with children and families 
• Models behavior that is consistent with Christ’s teaching
• Must be a member or regular attender of a Bible-believing church
• Has a personal saving relationship with Jesus Christ 
• Proven ability to work in a fast pace environment 
• Can Multitask effectively 
• Passionate about changing the lives of children and families in the Jacobsville community
• Demonstrates strong relationship building skills with children and adults
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of financial literacy and resources preferred
• Experience in counseling or coaching preferred

Conditions of Employment:

• Pass a volunteer background check and hold a valid driver’s license.
• Criminal background checks must show no conviction of a felony or misdemeanor crime including, but not limited to abuse, drugs or alcohol, neglect, theft or fraud.

Education Requirements:

BA/BS in Human services, Social Work, Economics or equivalent experience.
