POSITION: HPN- Landside Maintenance Technician


REPORTS TO: Lead Maintenance Supervisor


LOCATION: White Plains, New York


AIRPORT: Westchester County Airport

SUMMARY:

This position works under general supervision of the Lead Maintenance Supervisor. Responsible for the general maintenance of Airport Facilities systems and equipment. Works independently performing facilities maintenance in a variety of light construction, preventative maintenance, repairs and upkeep projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs all phases of building maintenance and repair work to maintain and operate the Airport facilities.
  • Performs phases of mechanical and security components of the airport, security gates, baggage belts and plumbing systems.
  • Repairs, tests, and maintains a variety of mechanical equipment such as fire lines and pumps, loading bridges, jet bridges, and baggage belts.
  • General knowledge of building and vehicle maintenance and repair
  • Conduct snow removal, environmental and emergency responses
  • Involves mandatory shift and overtime assignments
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Airport Lead Supervisor of Maintenance

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED.

Two (2) years of experience in the construction and maintenance of buildings, facilities, and grounds, including operation of motorized equipment.

Prior experience in general maintenance

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid Drivers’ License as a condition of employment.
Must obtain a commercial drivers’ license within six months of employment
