Summary: The Spanish Immersion program is designed to provide preschoolers with an experience of immersion in the Spanish language and culture. The lead teacher is responsible for teaching children ages 3 – 5 preschool in Spanish. The lead teacher will guide assistant teachers, implement curriculum, and participate in parent communication.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure EmBe brand, mission, vision, and values are reflected in all interactions.
  • Demonstrate and reinforce professionalism, appropriate language, take responsibility for actions, and mentor positive behaviors to all throughout the center.
  • Actively embrace a culture of empowerment and an attitude of honesty and mutual respect. Maintain professionalism, take responsibility for actions and mentor positive behaviors to assistant teachers, children, coworkers and customers.
  • Implement a custom based Spanish Immersion curriculum which is geared toward kindergarten readiness.
  • Submit weekly written lesson plans to Site Director covering all areas of growth and development to meet the age-appropriate intellectual, social, emotional and physical needs of children.
  • Assess child’s development through age-appropriate developmental checklists.
  • Create a stimulating learning environment, including room arrangement, bulletin boards, seasonal decorations, etc.
  • Verbally greet parents/visitors and children upon arrival to the classroom.
  • Ensure parent information is communicated through parent conferences and daily verbal and written communication.
  • Develop and communicate policies and procedures for the classroom/age group to each parent.
  • Accurately provide documentation (such as meal sheets, daily sheets, accident reports, medication sheets, as well as communicate parent information daily via procare and in person.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and clean learning environment inside and outside the classroom.
  • Participate in recommended professional development training opportunities and adhere to licensing standards.
  • Maintain appropriate staff to child ratio, consult with the site manager when substitutes are needed, or children should be moved to other classrooms.
  • Engage in parent communication such as:
    • Warmly greet each parent and child upon arrival and departure to each classroom
    • Engage families in child’s well-being and daily activities
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of each child along with treating all with dignity and respect.
  • Remain up to date on mandatory training hours.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree in early childhood education or elementary education is required or equivalent experience
  • Fluent in oral and written Spanish language. Knowledgeable of Spanish culture
  • Must have the ability to teach preschool concepts to children in Spanish.
  • In-depth knowledge of early child growth and development principles.
  • CPR and First Aid training.
  • Excellent written and oral English-speaking skills for parent communication.
  • No substantiated history of child abuse or neglect.
  • No staff member or volunteer will have a felony conviction on record within the past five years.
  • No staff members name will appear on the sex offenders registry

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to see, speak, and hear
  • Frequent standing and walking
  • Frequent use of hands and arms
  • Occasional lifting of 20 to 40 lbs.
  • Occasional need to climb, balance, kneel or crouch

Work Exposure:

  • Work is primarily performed in an indoor classroom environment. Occasional outdoor exposure when weather permits.
  • Noise level is moderate to loud due to equipment and children.
  • Routine exposure to household sanitization and cleaning chemicals
