Summary:

Country Club of Detroit is looking for a Florist Manager to join our Greens & Grounds Team. A Florist Manager is responsible for all floral initiatives, including maintenance of floral and horticultural displays, coordinating and designing of new projects for the Greens and Grounds department, and researching and securing sources for Horticulture and floral displays. The Floral Manager will work directly with the Horticulturist as a member of the Greens and Grounds staff and in cooperation with other clubhouse departments, as needed.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Order, process and maintain fresh-cut flowers each week throughout clubhouse per CCD floral standards
  • Provide weekly bud vase and floral arrangements for main dining room
  • Accountable for floral supply ordering, budget tracking on excel spreadsheet, monthly accounting and forecasting of expenditures throughout the year
  • Maintain and oversee cleanliness, stocking and organization of floral and horticultural areas at all times
  • Coordinate and implement floral design requests of the Catering Department for CCD club-sponsored events in cooperation with staff and any additional departments
  • Assist with design, purchase and installation of holiday décor for interior and exterior needs to Horticulturist’s specifications and in cooperation with grounds staff
  • Purchase and maintain indoor plants and displays, including tropical plants
  • Manages both CCD member and staff relations
  • Maintains effective communication throughout the property
  • Supports positive employee engagement within the department
  • Shares cross-training opportunities, constructive and positive feedback at all levels
  • Creates a motivating environment
  • Keeps informed of all new developments within the department and makes recommendations designed to maximize department and organizational success

 

Minimum Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ floral experience required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office platform (i.e. Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to work both alone or in a team environment
  • Adaptability to engage both as a team leader or assist in facilitating the needs of other team leaders as required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines under high-pressure and stressful situations
  • Adaptable to work in all Michigan weather conditions and environments throughout the year
  • Ability to commit to changes in schedule or additional hours for special events and holidays throughout the year and during key months of November through December for holiday décor
  • Must have valid driver’s license to facilitate in purchasing supplies as needed
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

 

Working Conditions:

  • Potential schedule (varies between 20 and 30 hours per week – dependent on special events schedule):
    • Monday: 8-4:30
    • Wednesday: 7-1:30
    • Thursday: 7-1:30
    • Friday: Dependent on special events, typically 6-8 hours
