OB/Perinatal Scheduler

This is a 20 hour a week part time position with a 12:30pm-4:30pm work schedule.
Job Description:
The OB/Perinatal Scheduler acts as a resource to the OB Team and to the Perinatal Services Manager. The Scheduler assists patients by accurately checking insurance information and updating system demographics. The Scheduler makes patient confirmation calls, schedules appointments, and processes schedule changes. The Scheduler schedules all prenatal intakes and newborn, 1 month, and 2 month appointments for health center providers. The Scheduler schedules and confirms all prenatal appointments through 20 weeks at the time of the Intake, and schedules all remaining prenatal appointments upon receipt of the Prebooking Form. The Scheduler is available to OB Providers and OB Advocates for urgent scheduling needs. In addition, the Scheduler will handle referrals requests for prenatal and perinatal patients, including newborns and children through 2 years of age, supported by the Advocates in Maternal Child Health.
Educational Requirements:
Two to four years college preferred. Must have a minimum of a high school diploma/GED with relevant work experience. Medical Office Administration certificate preferred.
Experience Required:
Two years relevant work experience required including demonstrated customer service, and accurate/timely data entry. Experience at FHCW as a Patient Services Representative or Managed Care Assistant required. Must have demonstrated proficiency with Electronic Practice Management System; NextGen preferred.

- Ability to function independently with minimal supervision, and to plan, coordinate, and carry out those tasks necessary to meet the job responsibilities.
- Awareness of resources available within the health center to accommodate the needs of patients.
- Commitment to providing cost conscious, fiscally responsible, timely, efficient, effective, safe, patient-centered, culturally competent, equitable, and participatory health care.
- Processes personal health information in accordance with FHCW HIPPA policies and procedures.
Reporting Relationship:
Reports directly to the Perinatal Services Manager.
