As our transportation professional, your primary responsibility is to ensure the safe and comfortable transportation of patients, specifically children with autism. Your role involves a combination of logistical coordination, interpersonal skills, and a deep commitment to providing compassionate care.


Positional Responsibilities:

  • Takes patients to assigned places and brings them back, following instructions from the transportation supervisor or manager.
  • Delivers secure, effective, and empathetic transportation services for clients, remaining attentive to any special requirements that may emerge.
  • Helps program participants safely enter and exit the vehicle, whether it's to their homes or the center
  • Capable of safely driving the vehicle
  • An employee in this or any position is expected to support the employment environment, including displaying Pathways’ values.
  • Foster and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, supervisors, parents/guardians, patients, and community stakeholders.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and demeanor at all times.
Requirements:


Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must maintain a valid State of Michigan Chauffeur license and a clean driving record
  • Ability to independently and repeatedly lift, move, and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to interact with clients, including but not limited to; bending, twisting, and moving quickly
  • Ability to remain seated for periods of time
  • Available from 7-9:30am, 2-4:30pm, and 6-7:30pm Monday - Friday
    • Can be available for one or two shifts per day
    • Availability for all three shifts preferred

Preferred Requirements:

  • Adult, child, and infant First Aid/CPR certified (pre-employment)
  • Child Passenger Safety Technician Certified (per-employment)
  • Experience working with children
  • Experience working with individuals with special needs

Skills and Attitude:

  • Enjoys interacting with children and teens
  • Ability to solve a conflict in a straightforward, timely, and professional way
  • Flexible and sensitive to different and varied socio-economic environments
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently
