JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

This position requires approval from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department and requires the ability to meet and maintain those requirements as a Police Officer. Must be TN POST Certified or Transition School eligible. Minimum age is 21. Position requires driving a company vehicle and officer must maintain a clear driving record. Provides safety and security for FGCC, maintaining professionalism at all times and strictest of confidentiality.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Escort EMS to emergency calls and assist other emergency agencies as needed.
  2. Enforce the laws of the State of Tennessee.
  3. Enforce traffic laws and does investigations.
  4. Complete State of Tennessee Accident Reports in a timely and efficient manner.
  5. Knowledge of court procedures.
  6. Ability to make arrests and serve warrants.
  7. Serve criminal and civil papers and assist county as required.
  8. Enforce speed limits by radar and writes citations.
  9. Respond to calls by Lifeline or families to check on family members.
  10. Complete accident reports for FGCC, guests, and members.
  11. Ensure orderly pick-up and delivery of money and reports to and from facilities.
  12. Enforce the rules and regulations of FGCC.
  13. Provide security for safety of all FGCC guests (property owners, visitors, vendors and employees).
  14. Maintain keys for all facilities and buildings.
  15. Patrol Fairfield Glade area and does building and house checks.
  16. Continue to acquire knowledge in the field of public safety.
  17. Attend a forty-hour (40) in-service to maintain post certification each year.
  18. Keep supervisors informed of problems that may arise.
  19. File reports as required and keeps daily log of all activity.
  20. Must be willing to change shifts or work any shift necessary to provide complete security of the Community.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

High School Graduate or GED; required in-service training courses in police methods, emergency medical aid, weapons use, investigative techniques and related subjects. In-service consists of forty-hours (40) of are post certified training each year. Basic Police Recruit School – Certified Officer State of Tennessee; AED/CPR/1st Aid Training; obtain Private Special Deputy status as approved by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department.

EXPERIENCE:

Prior law enforcement experience a plus or recent recruit from police academy.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Basic MicroSoft office knowledge preferred.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Police Vehicle, Firearms, Handcuffs, Baton, Car Radio, Radar, Camera, Flashlight, Portable Radio, Protective Mask, Decontamination Kit, Chemical Spray. Pager, Cell Phone, Computer, Fire Extinguisher, Evidence Collection Equipment, Office Equipment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Exposure to unknown and dangerous conditions such as intoxicated or violent arrestees and life threatening situations such as armed and/or violent arrestees.

Work is performed in an office, police vehicle and in the field exposing the employee to various outside atmospheric conditions; conditions such as fumes, noxious odors, dusts, mists, gases and poor ventilation that affect the respiratory system, eyes or the skin; possible bodily injury from moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools or machinery, electrical shock, radiation, explosions, falling from high, exposed places, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee may be exposed to persons who have contagious diseases/illnesses, volatile situations and imminent danger when performing the essential functions of the job.

The employee’s working conditions are typically moderately quiet to very loud.

Working time may require irregular hours, shift times – days, nights, weekends, holidays, and/or on-call status.

Minimal supervision (requires disciplined self-starter with ability to focus on needs of Community).

COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Active listening skills and ability to articulate information both verbally and in writing.

Ability to get along well with others.

Effective written communication required for daily reports, written statements, etc.

Communicating orally with internal staff, members, and other departmental staff in order to give and receive information in a courteous manner.

Conducting in-depth interviews of suspects, witnesses, victims, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Normal speech, hearing, and vision.

Must meet the employment physical and psychological standards which include Tennessee Drug-Free Workplace drug and alcohol testing and be subject to random drug testing.

While performing the essential functions of this job, the officer is regularly required to sit; use, handle or feel objects; ascend and descend stairs, ladders, ramps, fences, scaffolding, etc.; maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, or running on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces; move about on hands and knees; bend body downward and forward, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles; reach with hands and arms; speak and hear; use color, texture, sound, shape and odor perception; and push, pull and/or lift up to 50 pounds frequently and more with assistance.

SAFETY:

Follow all FGCC safety programs, safety guidelines, policies and procedures. Wear, use and enforce all FGCC personal protection equipment (PPE) as needed on specific jobs and tasks.

Be aware of chemical safety and be familiar with all pertinent Safety Data Sheets (SDS) of chemicals which are used in the workplace.

Follow all FGCC safety rules including all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to work at FGCC.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of:

Fairfield Glade Community Club Police Department and Procedures.

ACC regulations.

Geography of the Fairfield Glade Community and the location of important buildings or ability to acquire this knowledge rapidly.

All applicable state, federal, and local ordinances, laws, rules and regulations.

Basic crime prevention techniques.

Principles and practices of modern policing strategies, tactics, and procedures.

LICENSE:

Valid TN Driver License required

CERTIFICATE:
