Summary


Provide general medical care and HIV disease management to patients in clinic setting under collaborative relationship with physician(s) by performing the following duties.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide direct patient care to patients seen in the clinic:
  • Review patient charts, including allergies, problems, medications, and immunization status.
  • Elicit and record information about a patient’s medical history.
  • Examine patients for symptoms or physical information.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Diagnose the condition of patient.
  • Determine and prescribe medication given the patient's condition and allergies.
  • Discuss any possible side effects to medication, immunization, or treatment with patient.
  • Prescribe or recommend other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
  • Prescribe vaccinations to immunize patients from communicable diseases.
  • Promote health by advising patients about diet, hygiene, methods for prevention of disease and recommendations for routine screenings.
  • Refer patients to medical specialists for consultant services when necessary for patient well-being.
  • Document the patient's visit including review of systems, medical history, physical exam, diagnoses, and treatment plan.
  • Discuss case with physician(s) and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive treatment plan.
  • Perform annual cancer screenings for cervical and rectal cancer.


Additional Responsibilities


  • Participate in Continuous Quality Management Program.
  • Participate in other clinic Special Projects.
  • Provide indirect care to all medically managed patients:
  • Communicate with patients and RNs concerning triage of patient needs when reported via telephone.
  • Respond to and order follow up for abnormal lab reports and diagnostic reports.
  • Reconcile medication list from hospitals and consultants with patient and chart medication list.
  • Communicate with off-site providers to coordinate continuum of care.
  • Provide after-hours call coverage.
  • Provide occasional after-hours services to fit patient needs.
  • This position may require the employee to transport patient information in their personal or company vehicle. This information must be secured during transport.


Supervisory Responsibilities


This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


Need to Know Access

Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners will have access to all clinical charts and medical information for all patients of the clinic. They will have clinic level access to the CAREWare database for reviewing clinical and support data as well as the shared network. They will have access to the electronic health record portal for review and orders.

Requirements:

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience


Master’s degree in nursing.


Language Skills


Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or concerns. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent documentation.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations


Current active, unencumbered, Florida RN / ARNP license; Current active ARNP certification from a nationally recognized certifying body. Autonomous License is preferred.
