Client is now looking for an entry-level Traffic Designer/Engineer to fill a junior level role (0-5 years of experience) working under the supervision of a licensed engineer to execute different transportation and traffic engineering projects.

We are searching for an enthusiastic individual with a growth mentality and a desire to become a Traffic subject matter expert. The role provides a chance to work in a cutting-edge sector for a growing firm with a strong reputation in the transportation industry.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Conduct field investigations and data collections, including traffic counts.
  • Review and summarize crash reports.
  • Create traffic and crash assessments, memoranda, and traffic engineering reports in line with PennDOT and other industry publications.
  • Conduct traffic capacity analysis and simulations.
  • Conduct traffic operation evaluations on anything from small-scale projects and isolated crossings to complicated scenarios for urban arterial networks and big highway systems.
  • Prepare signal warrant studies, signal calculations, and timing analysis.
  • Assist in the creation of traffic signal and control plans, as well as signage and pavement marking designs.
  • Assist in establishing plans, specifications, quantities, and estimations.
  • Collaborate with other team members, consultants, and our clients.
  • Represent the client in industry excursions and events

Education And Requirements

  • Engineer-in-Training or Fundamentals of Engineering Certificate is preferable.
  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering with traffic engineering electives from an approved university is necessary.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA is desirable.
  • PE Certification is a plus.

Competencies
Excellent Microsoft Office and computer skills: Proficient in drafting and modifying papers in Microsoft Word. Proficient at using Excel to organize data, construct tables, and graphs. Proficient with Power Point.

Self-motivated, capable of prioritizing and completing assignments on schedule. Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and proofreading skills.
Ability to learn and apply HCS, Synchro, and Vissim traffic programs.
Capability to apply PennDOT documents and standards, MUTCD, and AASHTO principles.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
