Laborer -Traffic Sign Specialist

THIS IS A TEMPORARY PART-TIME POSITION
Summary: The purpose of this class within the organization is to assist in the installation, repair and/or maintain street/roadway signs, pavement markings, striping, curb painting, handicapped parking and/or loading zones.
This class works under close supervision according to set procedures.
Work Hours: This position will be expected to work a designated schedule established by the Department Head. Typical work hours may generally be 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is also expected this position will work other and /or additional hours including nights, weekends, special events and /or holidays as necessary or requested to accomplish departmental goals.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Essential Duties: include the following. Other and /or additional duties may be assigned. All assigned duties should be performed in an efficient, effective and safe manner.
Strives to be efficient and effective at balancing and meeting the common needs and reasonable expectations of core constituents.
Contributes towards the department's mission by continuously striving to meet expectations, strategic goals and objectives.
Assist with installs, repairs and maintains street and roadway signage.
Stripes streets and roadways.
Paints curbs, loading zones and parking lots.
Installs pre-marks for crosswalks, arrows, stop bars, and yield bars.
Assists with taking of inventory of supplies and materials; Unloads trucks and checks in freight.
Installs lane dividers
Education / Experience: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Requires one year in traffic control, signage, or closely related experience.
Certifications / Licenses: Must Possess and maintain a valid State of West Virginia Drivers' License.
