The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society a 501(3) (c) organization has an exciting opening for a Donor Engagement Specialist on our Development and Fundraising Team This a full-time/hybrid (40 hr/wk) position. Starting salary is based upon experience and knowledge.


PRIMARY FUNCTION: Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is seeking a Donor Engagement Specialist to join the Society’s dynamic Development & Communications team. This person serves as the primary point of contact for inquiries from donors and prospective donors; and is at the forefront of ensuring a high-quality customer experience. This position is located at NMCRS HQ in Arlington, VA, with limited remote work available. This position works under the general supervision of the Vice President, Chief Development and Communications Officer (CDCO), and the Director, Development, and direct supervision of the Individual and Planned Giving Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES AND MAJOR TASKS:

  • Serves as primary point of contact for individual donor inquiries, including inquiries received via mail, phone and online. Ensures prompt and accurate response from Development team members.
  • Manages Development calendar, tracking the production timeline for Development cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship pieces.
  • Assists in copy development for email and mail solicitation campaigns and other ongoing Development correspondence (acknowledgements and tax receipts).
  • Serves as the primary contact with third-party vendors that provide access to non-traditional giving tools, including matching gifts, vehicle donations, crypto currency, and gifts of appreciated stock. Develops and implements plans to actively promote these giving opportunities.
  • Researches new/emerging giving tools. As appropriate, works with Individual and Planned Giving Manager and Director, Development to incorporate these tools into the Society’s development portfolio.
  • In coordination with Director, Development, and third-party vendor ensures all state registration filings and reports are current and accurate.
  • Assists, as needed, in the data entry of donations in CRM, the review of batches, and data hygiene.
  • Performs all other position-related duties, as assigned.
  • Adheres to all established NMCRS policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  1. Required
    1. Associates degree, or two years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience

  1. Required
    1. Two years of nonprofit fundraising experience
    2. Customer-service mindset with hands-one experience with donor stewardship
    3. Proven track record of providing excellent customer/donor service
    4. Excellent written and oral communication skills
    5. Strong proficiency in MS Office, MSO 365, and with donor databases
  2. Preferred
    1. Familiarity with non-traditional development tools, such as vehicle donations, gifts of crypto currency and stock
    2. Knowledge of USN and USMC organizations and rank structures
    3. Knowledge of Society mission and history
