ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Warehouse lead is a team leader providing on-site guidance, motivation, and leadership so that the team members can efficiently and effectively accomplish the goals and day to day operations of the warehouse. Reports daily to the Warehouse General Manager and fulfills all tasks and duties as outlined and directed by Warehouse Supervisor/General Manager/Management Team and WHI company handbook and policies.

Warehouse Lead Responsibilities

Assist General Manager, Warehouse Manager and HR Manager to train, develop, and monitor employees to ensure they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their specified job. Evaluate needs for disciplinary actions and coordinate with warehouse supervisor and Human Resources department when necessary. Promote and foster a culture on continuous improvement. Perform tasks with a sense of urgency with a strong attention to detail:

  • Participate in daily warehouse operation
  • Instruct and monitor employees to work in a safe manner, as per company safety guidelines, and monitor the execution of safety procedures
  • Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring that the Warehouse safety equipment (fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, etc.) are always in good working order
  • Maintain the Warehouse in accordance with quality and cleanliness guidelines as set forth from WHI, OSHA, ANSI and pertinent third-party auditing agencies
  • Verify received shipments to ensure we receive the correct quantity of materials
  • Identify and document any damaged materials and refuse if necessary
  • Prioritize distribution tasks and delegate to warehouse staff.
  • Direct employee activity to ensure the highest level of productivity and safety
  • Monitor and direct the receiving process including receiving inbound freight, verify freight is complete and undamaged, materials are put away in locations in a timely manner, and that packaging and production picklists are picked accurately and in a timely manner
  • Determine and evaluate innovative methods of warehouse receiving and storage to improve quality, increase productivity and efficiency, and reduce costs through employee involvement
  • Communicate shift schedule requirements with all employees.
  • Troubleshoot problems as quickly and accurately as possible.
  • Ensure the resolution of issues by communicating with Warehouse Manager/Supervisor and other concerned departments
  • Ensure that employees are sufficiently cross trained to provide back up for any position
  • Provide timely, constructive, and continual performance feedback to all employees, both formally and informally (with HR and Warehouse Leadership)
  • Maintain appropriate communications with Customer Service, Logistics, HR, and any other concerned departments through formal and informal means
  • Maintain all Warehouse documents completely and accurately, and verify receiving paperwork in a timely manner (real time)
  • Coordinate with Warehouse Leadership team to arrange trans-Warehouse shipments of product and supplies between sites, and verify quantities transferred are accurate
  • Participate and help organize annual inventory counts & monthly cycle count by being available for counting, verifying, and researching inventory issues as required
  • Monitor facilities, supplies and other equipment and communicate issues with Warehouse leadership in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with Warehouse Leadership on labor planning and other support functions to ensure that company goals are met
  • Complete warehouse capacity reports and look for opportunities to maximize existing warehouse capacity
  • Always ensure safety and security of warehouse and team members
  • Other tasks assigned by Warehouse Manager/Supervisor/Management.


Requirements:

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • English/Chinese bilingual preferred
  • Excellent organization and prioritizing skills
  • High school diploma/equivalent – college degree preferred.
  • Must pass background check and random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Valid driver license, clean driving record and reliable transportation
  • Experience in safe operation or forklift, reach truck and other warehouse pallet moving equipment – must be willing to attain forklift certification or already have one.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a warehouse environment and as a proven leader or manager in related activities.
  • Computer proficiency - MS Excel and Word, database, RF Scanners, ERP/MRP/WMS
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others as well as independently.
