I. Job Summary:
     
Assist in supervising the day-to-day activities of the Environmental Services Department (Housekeeping and Laundry) in accordance with federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be instructed by the director of Environmental Services, to ensure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

II. Primary Job Duties:
  • Supervise the day-to-day functions of the department; assign personnel to specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
  • Coordinate daily environmental services and routine/terminal isolation procedures with nursing service in resident living and/or recreational areas.
  • Assure that staff members are performing assigned tasks in accordance with established procedures and assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe comfortable and attractive manner.  Must complete a minimum of three (3) inspections per night in all areas.
  • ​​​​​​Assure that staff members follow safety precautions, use appropriate infection control practices when performing tasks, and when using equipment and supplies.  Reports all hazardous conditions or equipment to the director. 
  • Assist the Environmental Services Manager in; setting standards for the department, standardizing methods of work and performing daily environmental services tasks, ordering and maintaining supplies, and performing departmental studies. 
  • Assist in the orientation and training of department staff.  Train staff in the proper cleaning techniques of mixing chemicals, cleaning disinfectants, solutions, cleaning methods, and use of equipment as directed.  Review job description and duty assignment with new department staff.
  • Review complaints/appeals of department staff, counsel/discipline departmental staff as needed, track attendance and tardiness daily and report these actions/findings to the director.  Review and evaluate the work performance of assigned staff and make recommendations.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of resident care information.  Assure that residents personal and property rights are maintained by staff.
  • Attend and participate in continuing education programs. 
  • Perform other duties as requested by Manager/Director. 
III. Other Job Duties:
  • The Environmental Services Supervisor must demonstrate competency in interacting with the resident population of Weinberg Campus. 
IV. Job Specifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required. 
Experience:
Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience in an Environmental Services position in a hospital or skilled nursing facility. Must be familiar with care of various floors, cleaning materials, etc. and with general environmental services methods and equipment. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents and staff. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, and push/pull a full cart. 

V. Physical & Environmental Requirements:
  • Works in well-lighted ventilated office areas as well as throughout the facility (resident rooms, therapy rooms, etc.)
  • Lifts, pushes, and pulls hand equipment. 
  • Majority of the day is spent on your feet. 
  • Stoops and reaches in performing tasks. 
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions, and is involved with residents, staff, and visitors under various conditions.
