Prescreening Questions:

    1. At least 2 years of Competitive Swimming experience preferred.
  3. Do you have a valid Red Cross Lifeguard Certification? Or CPR at a minimum?
  4. Do you speak fluent English? Deal breaker.
  5. How many years of experience do you have teaching swimming lessons?

Years of Teaching Experience and Starting Pay Rate

1 year = $20 per hour
2 years = $22 per hour
3 years = $24 per hour
4 years = $28 per hour
5 years = $30 per hour

Our Locations and Times (You may choose one or more locations):

Culver City Plunge, Saturdays, 9 am – 10 am.

Burbank Recreation Center, Saturdays, 9 am – 11 am, and Sundays, 10 am – 12:30 pm.

Santa Monica Swim Center, Wednesdays and Fridays, 4 pm – 7 pm.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct adaptive US Paralympic swim lessons for individuals or small groups of all ages and skill levels,

- Create and implement lesson plans tailored to the needs and abilities of each student

- Teach proper swimming techniques, including strokes, breathing, and water safety, in accordance with the US Swimming Association and US Paralympics Committee

- Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to help students improve their swimming skills using the Growth Mindset approach

- Ensure a safe and positive learning environment for all participants,

- Monitor and manage student behavior during lessons,

- Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance

Requirements:

- Previous experience working with students, preferably in a swim instruction or coaching role,

- Strong swimming skills and knowledge of various swimming techniques; current or former competitive swimming experience required

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles, for cognitive and physical disabilities

- Knowledge of behavior management techniques for working with children

- Background check may be required

Qualifications

Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification

Current or former Competitive Swimmer (High School or College)

Knowledge of water hazards, pool safety, first aid and appropriate safety precautions and procedures

Ability to analyze situations, react appropriately, remain calm and efficient in caring for problems

Successful water skills test prior to hire

Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions; visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the ability to act swiftly in an emergency; ability to tolerate high humidity and exposure to chlorine.
