Job Description

Job Title: Weld Technician I

Department: Welding

Report to: Weld Supervisor

Position Summary: This is an entry-level position to perform basic standard welding operations with the primary purpose to perform production welding.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Set up and operate GTAW machines, i.e., lathe and laser diaphragm welding on production work. Inspect work order prior to welding. Sharpen tungsten on a grinding wheel. Enter jobs in weld room when required. Will inspect own work for discoloration and uniformity. Perform cleaning and polishing maintenance of lathe. Enter finished jobs on ATS and delete completed jobs from weld list.

Must become familiar with the quality systems documents within the department referenced on the Required Training Matrix (RTM-100). Routine contact with Weld Department employees. Occasional contact with employees in other departments to secure parts or to remedy errors.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Specific Job Skills:

Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, prints, and Bills of Material.

Must be able to sharpen tungsten.

Must become proficient in operation of GTAW machines, i.e. lathe

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications:

Prefer high school education or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to read, write, and understand English. Will receive on-the-job training for some essential functions and job skills.

Hourly Rate: $17.50 - $25.00
