Summary

The Blaster Technician is responsible for blasting components and parts to quality and safety standards to prepare for painting.

Minimum Qualifications
Previous shot blasting experience in large blast booth with blast hose on small and large parts and assemblies required

  • Blaster 1 - 1 - 5 Years Experience
  • Blaster 2 – 6 – 14 years' experience.
  • Senior Blaster– 15 years or more experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, and written directions.
  • Ability to read and communicate in English.
  • HS diploma preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of shot blast disposal and clean up guidelines.
  • Knowledge of general blast procedure and common practices
  • Forklift experience moving large components.
  • Ability to assist with troubleshooting issues with blast pot, blast hose and blast booth systems.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate and discuss issues with peers and leaders.

Essential Functions

  • The blaster’s main responsibility is to prepare parts and /or assemblies for painting.
  • Blast parts and assemblies to company quality and safety standards.
  • Inspect and document blast profile to ensure it meets company expectations.
  • Monitor material levels and report any shortages/issues to his/her supervisor.
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained, cleaned, and serviced on regular schedules.
  • Communicate with blast vendor and supervisor to assist with process improvements.
  • They will communicate with the production supervisor with concerns of material shortages and equipment needs.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift 40lbs and manipulate heavy equipment and hoses.
  • Manual dexterity to operate digital equipment, including computers and PLC’s, protective relays, controllers, and other such equipment with small fine buttons and operators.
  • Required to stand and walk on manufacturing floor throughout the day.

Work Environment

The work environment associated with this role can take place either indoors or outdoors depending on the nature of the project. Tolerance for various weather elements may be necessary. This is an active manufacturing setting; at times it will be noisy, and equipment will be moving.
