As an Assistant Director in child care, your duties typically revolve around supporting the smooth operation of the childcare facility. This is a full time position most likely 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Here are some common responsibilities:

  1. Scheduling and Coordination:
    • Manage appointments, meetings, and events for the childcare center.
    • Coordinate with parents, staff, and external vendors as needed.
  2. Communication:
    • Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and handle inquiries from parents and staff.
    • Maintain clear and effective communication channels within the center.
  3. Documentation and Record-keeping:
    • Maintain accurate records of children's attendance, schedules, and health information.
    • Ensure compliance with licensing regulations by keeping necessary documentation up to date.
  4. Financial and Administrative Support:
    • Assist in processing payments, invoices, and financial records.
    • Help with budgeting, purchasing supplies, and managing inventory.
  5. Staff Support:

    • Drive Mini School Bus when necessary (Valid drivers license with F Endorsement)
  6. Safety and Security:
    • Monitor and ensure adherence to safety protocols and emergency procedures.
    • Maintain security measures to safeguard children and staff.
  7. Parent and Public Relations:
    • Provide information to parents regarding policies, programs, and activities.
    • Help organize parent meetings, orientations, and other events.
  8. Special Projects:
    • Assist in organizing special events, field trips, or educational programs.
    • Participate in or lead projects aimed at improving the childcare centers operations.
  9. Clerical Duties:
    • Perform general office tasks such as filing, copying, and data entry.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of office and common areas.
  10. Adherence to Regulations:
    • Stay informed about local childcare regulations and ensure compliance.
    • Assist in preparing for inspections and audits as required.
Effective administrative assistants in child care settings are organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong communication skills. They play a crucial role in supporting both the administrative needs of the facility and the well-being of the children and staff. Candidates must
have at least 2 years of experience in an ECE setting and previous leadership experience is preferred. Candidates must pass background screening, drug test, and physical. Pre-employment training and continuing education is required. Compensation is based on education and experience as well as child care needs.
