Thank you for your interest in the SALT Staff Accountant role at Blue. The State and Local Tax Staff Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and review of state and local tax returns for both business clients and individual clients. In addition to developing state and local tax expertise to be able to assist with state and local tax audits, identifying tax planning opportunities and risks, and implementing tax planning.

Here is what you will be doing in the role:

• Prepares and reviews state and local income tax returns.
• Prepares and reviews state personal property tax returns.
• Assist companies with state registrations
• Assists with implementation of complex state tax planning strategies and the resolution of a broad range of associated issues.
• Research various state tax matters to arrive at the most advantageous and proper treatment under the law; prepares memoranda on conclusion.
• Ability and experience with supervising interns, as appropriate in the preparation of state and local tax returns.
• Respond to tax notices.
• Prepare thought leadership articles related to state and local tax.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting.
• Working towards CPA or CPA eligible (with 150 credit hours).
• 2-5 years of experience working in a CPA firm’s state and local tax return department.
