Position Title: Dining Room supervisor

Supervises: Food & Beverage Staff including Servers, Bartenders, Server Assistants, Food Runners, and Hosts


Position Summary:

Responsible for management of all food and beverage service areas to execute the established Member Experience for Club members and their guests. Assure a high standard of appearance, hospitality and service in personnel and cleanliness of dining rooms and service areas. Ensures timeliness of food and beverage service. Supervise and assist with training dining room staff; manage within budgetary restraints; develop/implement programs to increase revenues and/or reduce expenses. Monitor inventory levels and develop/implements operating procedures for the department in conjunction with the Food & Beverage Manager and Clubhouse Manager.


Essential Job Duties - including, but not limited to:

  • Be a "face" of Hammock Dunes Club by greeting Members and guests as they enter the clubhouse.
  • Serve as the department's opening or closing manager on duty.
  • Be familiar with Club information such as emergency procedures, the organizational chart, key personnel, and members.
  • Able to lead staff through all service types - a la carte, club event, banquet, golf tournament, breakfast, etc.
  • Leads event setup, service, and breakdown.
  • Receives and resolves complaints concerning dining service.
  • Assists with staff training for department and supervising staff, including printing new hire packets
  • Assist in service as needed and when required.
  • Serves as a liaison between the dining and kitchen staff.
  • Ensures dining staff are in clean and proper uniform at all times.
  • Plans dining room set up based on reservations, anticipated walk-in traffic, and member needs.
  • Designs floor plan according to staff on duty and reservations.
  • Attends and participates in pre-meal meetings with staff; relays pertinent information such as new items, menu changes, special member requests, operation updates, etc.
  • Ensures that all opening or closing duties have been performed correctly.
  • If scheduled as closing manager, completes End of Shift Report, locks the Clubhouse and secures any Club assets before leaving for the night.
  • Assures the correct appearance, cleanliness and safety of dining room areas, equipment and fixtures; reports deficiencies or necessary repairs to the maintenance team.
  • Maintains quarterly wares inventory and advises Food & Beverage Manager if supplies need to be ordered.
  • Update, print, copy, and distribute dining menus, as well as special event menus.
  • Print, copy, cut and distribute member comment cards, as well as collect completed comment cards for review & data collection
  • Update inventory pricing in spreadsheet with invoices provided by the Food & Beverage Manager
  • Assist with shelving beverage product upon delivery
  • Update Point of Sale system with menu buttons for daily features and/or new menu items.
  • Maintain table skirting and Club owned linen in an organized fashion; responsible for laundry or dry-cleaning items so inventory is always available.
  • Makes suggestions about improvements in dining service procedures and layout.
  • Utilizes computer to accurately charge members for services.

Additional Responsibilities and Job Requirements

  • Maintains high level of Member & Guest interaction throughout lunch & dinner service
  • Knowledge of and ability to stand in for any position on the F&B team
  • Positive attitude and sense of urgency are a must
  • Understanding that service is our product and possesses the desire to execute the established Member Experience
  • Be detailed-oriented, able to prioritize, multitask and use discretion to make well thought out decisions.
  • Strive daily to make the workplace and Member Experience better.
  • Must be available to work both opening and closing shifts, weekends, and holidays. Weekly schedule is based on Club demands and set schedule should not be expected.



Preferred Education and/or Experience

Previous experience in a supervisor or management role in a private Club or fine dining environment highly recommended. Previous experience bartending, serving drinks and food, as well as setting up catering buffets. Above average knowledge of liquor, beer, and wine and be familiar with standard drink recipes. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs required.


Language Skills:

Must speak, write, and read English. Must be able to listen and follow directions; speak clearly and concisely, as well as write with proper grammar to maintain proper, effective communication with staff and Club members.


Physical Demands:

This position routinely requires sitting, standing, walking, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, holding/lifting, twisting, reaching and climbing stairs. The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move at least fifty pounds on a consistent basis. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
