We have an immediate need to augment the Engineering team with a Mechatronics Engineer.

 

At Oxipital AI, we develop and build AI enabled Inspection and Robot Picking Systems to provide actionable insights to our customers for more resilient and efficient manufacturing.  Our systems include AI software, cloud and edge software, cameras, computation, touch screen interfaces and lighting. All systems are integrated into IP69k industrial grade housings. Our systems interface to Robots, End Effectors, Conveyors and Automation Equipment.


As a Mechatronics Engineer on a cross functional team, you will carry out a wide range of activities related to completing customer orders from start to finish including systems design, risk burn down, proof of principle, parts design, parts fabrication to prove out your design, designing and building automation equipment cabinets, testing your design and iterating.


We operate in a high tempo, highly collaborative environment. Your team peers include systems engineers, applications engineers, robot integration engineers, software and machine learning engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers.


As the ideal candidate you have a mechatronics degree and experience in mechanical design, electrical design, industrial component selection, cabling and wiring. You must be fluent in SolidWorks for 3D modeling (or equivalent), simulation, and drawing creation as well as machine shop and rapid prototyping experience. You have experience in the fields of robotics and industrial automation. Ideally you have programming experience in Python and PLC ladder logic. You are a driven individual contributor that thrives when working as part of a highly collaborative, cross functional development team.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical systems, subsystems and parts. Perform 3D modeling, simulation, and analysis
  • Design of automation subsystems systems including component specification, cabinet design and wiring
  • System proof of principle and risk burn down
  • System test and debug
  • Design verification and validation
  • Participate in design reviews and document development activities per established product development processes
  • Other duties as required

 

Experience/Education Requirements

  • BS in Mechatronics or Robotics or BSME with EE minor
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Hands-on machine shop and rapid prototyping
  • Experience with robotics and automation, or other complex electromechanical systems is strongly desired
  • Experience with Python, programming PLCs or other programming languages
  • Familiarity with Linux command line tools
  • Proficient in the creation and maintenance of quality documentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and thrives in a highly integrated team environment but can also work independently without supervision
  • Methodical, detail oriented, and well organized
  • Excellent time management skills and comfort when working in a fast-paced environment on multiple, simultaneous projects
