Position Summary: As a Manufacturing Metallurgist, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with customer requirements. You'll review technical documents, conduct metallurgical evaluations, and maintain records-all while maintaining a commitment to quality and working collaboratively in the manufacturing environment.

Essential Functions:

Document Review: Thoroughly review customer blueprints, specifications, and related technical documents.

Urgency and Adaptability: Embrace changing demands in a fast-paced environment.

Metallurgical Evaluations: Assess raw materials and prepare reports to inform all stakeholders for conformance, tracking, audits and customer approval.

Testing and Certification: Operate equipment and systems to certify materials and products. Coordinate and issue reports for approvals and outside audits.

Collaboration: Must work well with all departments, including Production, Purchasing, Engineering and Sales. Coordinate with customers as necessary to assure quality requirements and results.

Audits: Conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance.

Quality Policies: Understand and adhere to quality policies and procedures.

Skills and Abilities:

Metallurgical Expertise: Apply scientific expertise to meet customer requirements.

Attention to Detail: Ensure precision and accuracy in all tasks. Organized thinker and worker.

Effective Communication: Collaborate with colleagues and customer representatives. Ensure understanding and follow-up.

Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with computer systems, new equipment and technologies.


Experience and Education:

BS degree in material science, metallurgy or related field.

3-5 years in a quality assurance metallurgist role.

Must have experience in a manufacturing environment required.

Knowledge of metallurgy, chemistry and SPC required with specific understanding of alloy materials and quality systems.
