Job Description:

St. Matthew Catholic School is accepting applications for a Fifth Grade Teacher for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year who will begin in August 2024. The teacher is expected to create a classroom environment that reflects and promotes the mission of St. Matthew School and to work collaboratively with others on the team and school staff to promote the general well-being of each student and the school community.

Education and Experience

* Have a Bachelor's degree AND

* Have PDE Elementary Teacher Certification

* Have experience teaching elementary school, preferred but not required; AND

* Have skill with utilizing a variety of effective instructional and classroom management techniques, preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Demonstrate knowledge of and support St. Matthew School mission, vision and value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards and the code of ethical behavior

* Demonstrate a working knowledge of methods, materials and techniques used to teach elementary grade students

* Develop and present lessons that demonstrate planning and preparation and are consistent with the Archdiocesean course of study and the PA Standards

* Use a variety of instructional techniques and materials, which are appropriate to meet the needs of all students and understands the value of differentiating instruction

* Organize classroom systems/procedures and manages student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged and learning;

* Assess students' skills for the purpose of refining classroom activities and providing feedback to students, parents and administrations regarding students' progress, expectations and goals

* Actively participate in professional development opportunities

* Conduct regular assessment of student performance and maintain record-keeping through the school's grading system

* Analyze qualitative and quantitative student date

* Perform other related duties as required and assigned

* Participate in special activities, organization and events as assigned

* Supervise children outside of classroom as assigned
