ACT Science Part-Time Teacher

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe Huntington Learning Center of Fairfax is looking for teachers who can come in person to the Fairfax center to help students improve their scores on the science section of the ACT. We also offer subject tutoring for high school science and math classes, which we anticipate seeing more of as we get later in the school year.
This position offers flexibility to set your hours, while working 1:1 with motivated students. The Huntington Learning Center of Fairfax is an accredited school (MSA-CESS). Huntington also has the highest average score increase on the SAT and ACT, with average increases of 230 and 6 points respectively. This opens doors for acceptance and scholarships to schools that students would not otherwise be able to attend.
Teachers will provide instruction to students in their individualized programs that are designed specifically for them, based on the results of a diagnostic ACT taken in center. This allows us to focus only on the "low-hanging fruit" to ensure we aren't wasting time on skills the student already knows. At Huntington, we provide paid initial training (6 hours), lesson plans for each session, and the curriculum you will need to have productive sessions. This allows our teachers to do what they love to do -- TEACH
Teachers adjust their availability on a monthly and weekly basis using a shared Google Sheet and are paid via direct deposit twice monthly.
Teachers can also choose to teach the math section of the ACT and/or SAT.
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2 – 20 per week (Based on how much you make yourself available)
