The Quality Assurance Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining product quality and regulatory compliance in a manufacturing environment. This position involves overseeing quality control processes, from raw materials to finished products. The specialist helps develop and implement quality procedures, conducts inspections, analyzes data, and investigates quality issues. They work closely with production teams to resolve problems and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities include ensuring adherence to industry standards, preparing quality reports, and training staff on quality practices. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, and effective communication to maintain high quality standards across the manufacturing process.

Key Duties:

  1. Works in a safe manner and follows all company EH&S rules.
  2. Responsible for uploading/editing documents in electronic systems.
  3. Assist QA Manager with vendor complaints.
  4. Responsible for document control of finishing specs and manufacturing specs.
  5. Responsible for ordering lab supplies.
  6. Responsible for filing production work order jackets.
  7. Responsible for sending customer out-turn samples.
  8. Responsible for completing and forwarding customer COAs/COCs.
  9. Maintains Quality bulletin board.
  10. Assist QA Manager with internal NCMR database.
  11. Attends meetings as required in the absence of the Quality Manager.
  12. Responsible for uploading/editing documents in CPRO.
  13. Follows all Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and Good Manufacturing Practices pertaining to Food Safety.
  14. Train and provide backup to Lab Techs.
  15. Conduct regular inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods
  16. Analyze quality data and prepare comprehensive reports for management
  17. Investigate product quality deviations and customer complaints
  18. Collaborate with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues
  19. Maintain accurate documentation of quality control activities
  20. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 9001, FDA, GMP)
  21. Train production staff on quality assurance practices and procedures
  22. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  23. Backup for closing out production orders.
  24. Initiates ideas and develops proposals for improving quality as measured by customers and for reducing costs in order to be more competitive in the marketplace.
  25. Performs other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems and statistical process control
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations
  • Experience in quality assurance, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of quality management software systems
