Quality Manager

Purpose
Responsible for the quality of all products and components. This includes quality of steel fabrication, receiving inspection, testing, corrective action processes and Key Performance Measurements as well as all internal process flow documentation.
Essential Job Functions
- Fabrication (Weld Shop Inspection): Review Reject Deficiency Report (RDR) with weld shop Quality Assurance Supervisor for disposition. Determine critical dimensions for inspection.
- Receiving Inspection: Manage all receiving inspection of fabrications, trucks and vendor-supplied items including parts from Germany, Austria, and Brazil. Review RDRs with inspectors for disposition.
- Production: Manage issues/problems arising from Production Department of all parts not meeting specifications. Advise SAI and Affiliated Group Engineering of changes required to create a better quality product.
- Warranty: Provide direction when needed regarding sensitive issues with customers. Review material discrepancies for repetitive problems to be addressed from a production or design issue.
- Inventory: Work with material management to ascertain that components, WIP and finished goods are stored correctly. Inspect outside and under roof inventoried items periodically, establish an inspection program and KPI parameters with related action plans.
- Shipping: Partner with warehouse and shipping departments to assure that various packing and shipping requirements are fulfilled, meet customer expectations and industry standards. Develop and maintain KPI’s and corresponding action plans.
- Visit Vendors to review existing products and coordinate counter measures for quality improvement.
- Responsible for all internal Process Flow Documentation including process flow charting and technical writing of respective processes.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Physical Demands:
- Perform stationary work 75% of the time using a computer and applicable office equipment
- Move about inside the office and production areas of the building 15% of the time
- Travel 10% to customer facilities and Schwing locations
Education/Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in quality management, mechanical engineering or similar engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the areas of quality management, design, manufacturing, fabrication, administration, purchasing, inspection, and testing.
- Strong knowledge in ASTM, AWS, ISO 9001, Six Sigma and quality technique standards. CE/DIN Standard knowledge and CE Regulatory background is preferred.
- Ability to handle high work load and manage multiple projects
- Computer savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP, preferred
- Possess a high degree of interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good technical writing skills and experience in process flow charting
