Position Summary:

This position supports the metallurgical, processing, laboratory, and exploration/geology areas by providing timely and accurate information. Reporting to the Metallurgical Superintendent and sometimes to Sr. Metallurgist, providing support and information on projects, mill/concentrator KPI’s, test work results and analysis.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Assist Technicians, Process Operators, Metallurgists, Senior Metallurgists, and Project Managers in laboratory, sample preparation, and pilot plant environments.
  • Participate in large scale pilot plants and interpreting results under the supervision of a Senior Metallurgist and/or Project Superintendent and/or Metallurgical Superintendent.
  • Exposure to the technical groups of Mineral Processing; Crushing, Grinding, Flotation, Filtration and De-watering.
  • Aid in drafting and preparing portions of reports that are ultimately provided to managers.
  • Assist Sr./Metallurgists and/or Project Managers with the management of small projects of variable scope and complexity in the Mineral Processing, Crushing, Grinding, Flotation, Filtration and De-watering.
  • Support in compiling and analyzing metallurgical data.
  • Assist in the scheduling of metallurgical test works.
  • Directs and assist technicians and process operators in optimizing and efficient mill operations.
  • Verify and report results of the mill in a timely manner to Sr Metallurgist and Superintendent.
  • May travel to other laboratories for a short-term assignments or longer-term assignments as part of a strategic initiative.
  • May be assigned and coordinate special and/or ad-hoc projects as needed.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering or related and a desired experience of 6 months of base metal flotation experience.
  • Strong computer skills; Microsoft Office with emphasis on MS Excel spreadsheets.
  • Obtain a valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing (English).
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Ability to work well with others and independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Extended hours may be required from time to time.
  • Travel may be required from time to time.
  • Ensures full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Some experience in comminution and flotation.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Willing to work hard and with curiosity of process operations.
  • Good interpersonal skills and excellent safety record.
