Summary of Position:

The Chemical Foreman is responsible for overseeing and managing asset-wide chemical treatment processes and focusing on improving chemical deliverability in surface and subsurface applications. This position will maintain a focus on wellbore and surface piping/equipment integrity, with responsibilities concentrated on chemical treatment applications, chemical injection rates, chemical cost control, and well optimization.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the application of chemicals used in H2S treatment, water treatment, oil treatment, corrosion inhibition, scale prevention, and emulsion breaking.
  • Monitor and analyze chemical treatment processes to ensure effectiveness and compliance within industry standards.
  • Manage chemical vendors and develop long-term relationships. Set expectations with vendors and regularly meet with them to review chemical performance, usage, and cost.
  • Manage a team of chemical technicians and operators, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
  • Keep detailed records of chemical usage, treatment effectiveness, and any incidents or issues.
  • Responsible for minimizing downtime associated with chemical pumps, tanks, and injection equipment.
  • Monitor and manage company LOE as it relates to chemical program.
  • Accountable for ensuring accurate monitoring of chemical inventories, pump injection rates, pump maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Collect and analyze pipe failure data and provide recommendations to address root causes of failures.
  • Oversee H2S monitoring, providing treatments and recommendations for mitigation.
  • Oversee chemical optimization meetings with production foremen, lead operators, and lease operators and provide written recommendations for cost control and well integrity.
  • Work with the procurement team to generate RFPs and source vendors for chemicals and third-party providers.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot chemical treatment equipment, including pumps, tanks, and injection systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental requirements related to chemical handling and treatment.
  • Work in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, mud, etc.
  • Operate a vehicle safely in all weather conditions to access oil and gas equipment in rural/open-range country.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

  • Chemical Knowledge: Strong understanding of chemicals used in oil and gas production, including their properties, applications, and potential hazards.
  • Process Understanding: Knowledge of chemical treatment processes, including corrosion inhibition, scale prevention, and emulsion breaking.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ability to maintain and troubleshoot chemical treatment equipment, such as pumps, tanks, and injection systems.
  • Safety Management: Knowledge of safety regulations and chemical handling and treatment protocols, focusing on ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Team Management: Ability to manage a team of chemical technicians and operators, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members, other departments, and external stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues related to chemical treatment processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Record Keeping: Strong record-keeping skills to maintain detailed logs of chemical usage, treatment effectiveness, and any incidents or issues.
  • Environmental Compliance: Knowledge of environmental regulations related to chemical usage and disposal, focusing on minimizing environmental impact.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting to changing conditions and priorities.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide team members toward achieving common goals.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data related to chemical treatment processes and make informed decisions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to ensure that chemical treatment processes are carried out accurately and according to specifications.
  • Time Management: Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks and ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated with industry trends and best practices in chemical treatment processes.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills (email, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PowerBi, Salesforce).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Builds, supervises, and manages a team of chemical technicians.
  • Responsible for setting expectations and building training as necessary for new and existing employees to develop skill sets.
  • Expected to lead and teach by example, when necessary, on location and in the field.

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in chemical treatment processes in the oil and gas industry.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in managing a team and coordinating work schedules.

Travel Requirements:

  • Regular travel to office and field locations required for both the Midland and Delaware Basins
