General Description
The purpose of this job within the organization is to perform the collections and maintenance of all parking meters and parking equipment. The specialist will perform the Meter Maintenance and Collections and provide support for all special projects including the installation of new equipment, and software. The specialist collects and deposits daily collections and performs maintenance and repairs on City parking meters and fine boxes.
This job works under close supervision of the Crew Leader and the Director of Parking and according to set routes and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this job. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Essential Functions:
Strives to be efficient and effective at balancing and meeting the common needs and reasonable expectations of core constituents.
Contributes towards the department's mission by continuously striving to meet expectations, strategic goals and objectives.
Performs collection duties at parking meters and fine boxes daily using a predetermined route. Prepares and delivers daily bank deposits.
Repairs and/or maintains all parking meters. Straightens and/or removes meter poles.
Tracks repairs needed and/or completed in computerized tracking program (data entry required).
Assists with the immobilization and towing of vehicles (as necessary).
Orders and maintains an inventory of meter repair parts. Manages the bagged meter program and ensures meters are bagged per request.
Performs other related work as assigned.

Requires some responsibility for achieving minor economies and/or preventing minor losses through the handling of or accounting for materials, supplies or small amounts of money.

Communications Requirements:
Communication involves the ability to read, write, and speak.
Reads technical instructions, procedures manuals and charts to solve practical problems, such as routine office equipment operating instructions and meter maintenance manuals; composes routine forms, drafts email and text messages; speaks compound sentences using normal grammar and word form.

Judgment requirements refer to the frequency and complexity of judgments and decisions given the stability of the work environments, the nature and type of guidance, and the breadth of impact of the judgments and decisions.

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, stretching, or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness, and speed in the use of fingers, hands, or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
Equipment Usage:
Equipment usage involves responsibility for materials, machines, tools, equipment, work aids, and products.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
Experience in Parking industry or small equipment repair preferred
Ability to walk serval blocks per day and lift 50+ pounds
Special Certifications and Licenses:
Valid Driver's License
