Position: Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse
Location: Hackensack, NJ
Duration: 3 Months

Job Summary:

The Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse (PICU RN) is responsible for evaluating patients and assisting physicians with patient care. They plan, implement, and document nursing care based on patient’s needs, identifying patient needs and determining priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The PICU RN develops, implements, and coordinates an individualized plan of care for patients assigned through initial and ongoing assessments. They initiate assessments based on the patient’s problems or needs, the physician’s medical diagnosis, and the functional health framework. The PICU RN performs therapeutic nursing interventions, manages patient care, and documents care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/or clinical priorities. They advocate for evidence-based practice care standards and support the adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations in care delivery. The PICU RN provides patient-centric care in alignment with the professional nursing practice model. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • RN must be willing and able to treat and manage patients on the unit with a variety of conditions, including but not limited to flu, Covid, heart issues, lung issues, etc.
  • Float requirements: Will be asked to float within the scope of practice. May have to float to the general pediatric unit.
  • Nurse to patient ratio: ICU Unit: 1:2
