The Position: Chief Financial Officer (Fractional) – Part Time Status

Location: Hybrid in Cleveland, Oh

Summary: The Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for steering the strategic financial management of the organization on a part-time or contract basis. This executive role involves overseeing financial planning, risk management, record-keeping, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring seasoned financial expertise and strategic insights to drive financial health and scalability, adapting to the dynamic needs of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Planning: Develop and execute the financial strategy of the organization, including M&A, budgets, forecasts, and investment planning to support the organization's strategic goals.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor and analyze the organization's cash flow, oversee bank relationships and transactions, and ensure that financial resources are available to meet the needs of the business.
  • Financial Reporting and Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all financial data including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Oversee compliance with statutory law and financial regulations.
  • Cost Reduction and Efficiency Improvements: Identify and implement cost-saving measures and optimize financial operations to improve profitability and efficiency.
  • Risk Management: Evaluate and manage financial risks, develop and implement risk management policies to safeguard the organization’s assets.
  • Stakeholder Management: Communicate effectively with stakeholders such as Board of Directors and Finance and Investment Committee meetings, including other shareholders, such as financial institutions, and external auditors, to provide clear insights into the organization's financial status and future directions.
  • Tax Planning and Management: Oversee the organization's tax planning, ensuring compliance with tax regulations while optimizing tax obligations.
  • Investment Strategy: Guide the management team on potential investment opportunities and financial strategies that align with the organization’s growth.
  • Board Interactions: Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization; prepare and present critical financial matters at select board of directors and the finance/investment BOD committee meetings.
  • Leadership Over Financial Operations Team: Provide leadership and strategic direction to the financial operations team, ensuring effective management and coordination of financial functions and projects. Foster a collaborative and efficient team environment to support operational excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Expert Financial Knowledge: Deep understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strategic Thinking and Leadership: Ability to think strategically and provide leadership in financial strategy formulation and execution.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
  • Adaptability: High level of flexibility and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA highly preferred.
  • At least 10 years of financial management experience, with a significant portion as a CFO or equivalent, preferably in a similar industry or a consultancy role.
