General Position Summary: The Safe Environment Coordinator (SEC) III (Compliance) will audit the safe environment compliance of diocesan personnel, parishes and schools. The SEC III (Compliance) will also ensure adherence to diocesan policies and procedures and the Charter for the Protection of Children and Youth. Additionally, this position will assist with the preparation and execution of USCCB Charter Audit and local safe environment audits. The SEC III (Compliance) will also support the department head of safe environment in planning events, trainings, presentations and functions related to their areas. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the department head as needed

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Conducts routine monitoring of safe environment database and runs regular reports of safe environment compliance for diocesan, parish, and school personnel.
  • Communicates with diocesan, parish and school personnel regarding safe environment compliance, supporting their compliance effort with diocesan and USCCB Charter standards and preparation for the annual audit of the Safe Environment Program
  • Helps to develop and improve safe environment protocols and procedures for diocesan, parish and school programs.
  • Provides general safe environment protocol and procedure support to parishes and schools.
  • Participates and assists in the planning and execution of department events, including assisting with set-up for presentations, training sessions, and Safe Environment meetings.
  • Conducts and presents at Safe Environment meetings as needed.
  • Travels to parishes and schools to conduct audits.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree is preferred)
  • Experience in dealing with the public

Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

  • Active and faithful Catholic who adheres to the Church’s teachings and values
  • Fluent in both Spanish and English languages
  • Skilled in problem-solving and time-management
  • Certified facilitator of the Diocese of Fort Worth’s Safe Environment Program or willing to train to become facilitator.
  • Knowledgeable about the administrative and governance structures of the Roman Catholic Church
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experienced in office administration tasks
  • Effective in teaching and communicating with others
  • Capable of planning and bookkeeping activities
  • Compassionate and respectful in handling sensitive information about sexual abuse
  • Welcoming and inclusive of diverse backgrounds
  • Committed to attend and participate in the Diocesan Train-the-Trainer workshop for safe environment awareness sessions
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to travel as needed

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

• Able to sit and perform computer work for lengthy periods of time

• Able to access and maintain files. Involves extending arms and reaching files stored in multiple levels on file shelves, climbing up a step ladder to access files

• Database entry via computer keyboard that requires repetitive hand and wrist movements

• Ability to list up to 35 pounds without assistance and up to 60 pounds with assistance
