Job DescriptionJob Description Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Maintains accountability for his/her own practice; provides nursing care for patients; participates in patient and family teaching; and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the acute oncology care setting. The Registered Nurse also delegates/provides direction to other nursing personnel in the unit in accordance with their level of experience and expertise. Typical Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, as needed
Qualifications:
- Currently licensed in the state of Wisconsin as a Registered Nurse in good standing.
- Six (6) months of acute care experience preferred.
- Oncology/Infusion experience preferred.
- ONS Biotherapy & Chemotherapy Administration Certification.
- Current BLS, certification or willing to obtain.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing skilled nursing care in accordance with nurse practice acts.
- Following the Standards of Nursing Care as well as the Nursing Process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation while delivering high quality patient care.
- Coordinating and facilitating clinic schedule for oncologist.
- Continually strives to meet and exceed customer service standards in all interactions with customers, which include patients, visitors, other hospital employees, and medical staff.
- Demonstrating critical thinking skills.
- Attending staff meetings and mandatory education.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to demonstrates OMC's behavior standards and values in daily work.
- Ability to perform essential functions of a Registered Nurse.
- Knowledge of current nursing practices and technical skills
- Maintains expertise in oncology nursing.
- Skilled in use of basic patient care equipment and supplies.
- Ability to demonstrate and maintain required competencies.
- Ability to recognize change in patient condition/body systems.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and their relation to patient care outcomes.
- Accuracy and attention to detail in performing all job duties.
- Ability to assess multiple systems, develop plan of care, provide intervention and education, and assess outcomes of patient care.
- Ensure that all physician orders are transcribed accurately and carried out as soon as possible.
- Ability to effectively participate in the interdisciplinary care team.
- Ability to delegate to appropriate care team members.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family members, and team mates.
- Ability to effectively handle stress.
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality per OMC HIPAA policy.
- Ability to provide age appropriate and culturally appropriate care.
- Willingness and ability to perform additional duties on an as needed basis.
- Willingness to participate in the orientation process of new staff.
