Job DescriptionJob Description

The purpose of the floor operator is to perform regular task that need to be done on the AOD deck.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Taking temp and sample's from both AOD'S

2. Delivering acceptable samples to the lab for testing.

3. Making manual additions to ladle if needed

4. Stocking material on the deck that is needed for heats to come

5. Helping with AOD vessel changes when possible.

6. Helping with any maintenance that needs to be done if needed.

7. Running the scrap charge cars if needed in manual. Making sure that all material that is in the chutes makes it into the AOD. If there is any issues that need to be addressed let refiner know

8. Make sure the deck is swept and clean on your shift when time allows you too.

9. Make sure that any trash is put in dumpster. Fly dumpster down on the back deck and have chute box loader empty. Fly empty dumpster back up on t he deck this needs to be done as necessary.

10. Assist crane operators in raising and sitting ladles in the AOD cars if requested by crane operator.

11. Make sure that the temp poles are working properly change if necessary.

12. Assist the AOD refiner and/or desk operator in any job the may need done.

13. Assist the desk operator in the slag off operation.

14. Assist any job that you may be needed in to help the production at NAS.

15. When time allows train with the desk operator on learning the desk job operation.

16. Let the refiner know if there is any issue that needs to be addressed in order for you to perform your job in a safe manner. Also bring this to your Group Leader so that your concern can get resolved.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Communicating with the lab on sample quality and issues.

2. Going to all safety and communication meetings.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent. Good communication skills, A great understanding of the chute box loader position. Be able to take instructions and apply them on a daily basis.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Mobility in plant. Standing , Sitting, Walking, Frequently

2. Strength and Agility: lifting carrying 50lbs push, pull

3. Dexterity : grasping, handling firmly Frequently

4. Climbing Occasionally

5. Communication abilities.

6. Be able to work in a high heat environment

7. Ability to work a rotating shift (rotating from days to nights on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule).

HEALTH AND SAFETY

1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.

2. Follow Company safety rules.

3. Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately.

4. Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn:

  • Safety shoes
  • Safety glasses
  • Hearing protection
  • NAS uniform
  • Hard hat
  • Safety harness (when necessary)
  • Gloves and face shield (when necessary)

5. Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy.

6. Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines.

7. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
