The Patient Access Lead needs to be able to work the variety of shifts in a 24/7 environment to help support departmental needs. A more specific and consistent schedule will be determined after hire.

Scheduled office days will be determined as needed.

Position Objective

The Patient Access Hospital Lead will work in department and provide support for diversified tasks and duties associated with Emergency Room Patient Access, Surgery Center Patient Access, and Telecommunications, both clinic and hospital. The Lead will work in partnership with the Patient Access Supervisor acting as a liaison to support functions across all supervised departments with an emphasis on the Emergency Room. This position is responsible for supporting the day in and day out processes of the departments, as well as addressing patient access challenges promptly, and improving efficiency during their shifts. This position requires exceptional customer service when interacting with all patients, family members and the health care team.

Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office
  • Previous Healthcare Experience preferred
  • > 3 years’ work in Patient Access Services

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Facilitate maintaining accountability among team members through the shift
  • Real-time problem-solving (Team STEPPS): Ability to address patient access challenges promptly, improving efficiency
  • Assist with shift coverage and schedule verification as needed, subject to current scheduled hours
  • Proficiency in Switchboard (Hospital & Clinic), ER and ASU workflows w/emphasis on ER
  • Serve as a primary point of contact in the Patient Access Supervisors absence, with Patient Access Manager providing backup support and validation as needed.
  • Participate in discussions regarding the implementation of new workflows.
  • Conduct patient registrations meticulously and accurately, while offering support to fellow team members.
  • Proficiency in acquiring new procedures and protocols, seamlessly integrating them into existing workflows.
  • Willingness to take on projects as required.
  • Participation in Emergency Management
  • Contribute to enhancing the onboarding process
  • Become a credentialed trainer for Prelude, Cadence and ADT

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not provide any direct supervision but acts as a liaison with Patient Access Leadership
