ESSENCE OF THE ROLE
The Sr. Business Systems Analyst gathers, reviews, analyzes, and evaluates user needs/requirements, processes, and supporting systems in alignment with corporate and technology strategies to ensure that LSI is maximizing the value of LSI’s design tool platforms and solution investments. This role will rely heavily on metrics and user feedback to get alignment between stakeholders to deliver high impact design solutions for our reps, employees, customers and partners.
The Sr. Business Systems Analyst is primarily responsible for features and requirement management, maintaining priorities, and documenting detailed business requirements. Documentation may include business process and data flows as needed, to allow developers to build and/or modify the system to meet defined goals. In this role, the BSA will also perform quality assurance tasks and assist with solution architecture analysis and recommendations.
Works with IT Leadership and business teams to assist with project management, prioritization, and all aspects of quality assurance including testing, training, and support.
POSITION
- Evaluate feature requests and translate business requirements into features/stories for the development group, leveraging our design tool and digital platform capabilities to provide cost-effective solutions.
- Assist in the analysis and testing of cloud solution updates and releases, determining the impact on business and existing systems or in evaluating new software solutions.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of Landscape Structures business practices that want to leverage the Design Tool Platform capabilities that LSI has invested in (Unity, Autodesk, Bynder, D365CE & FO, PIM, etc.) and help maintain governance and standards across the enterprise.
- Collaborate with business users and IT teams to identify strategies for Landscape Structures to achieve their goals and objectives, optimizing and leveraging LSI’s Digital Platforms.
- Assist in resolving issues by conducting analysis, using data to verify assumptions, and troubleshooting specific system issues. Recommend resolutions to potential issues.
- Help advance I.T.’s project delivery, support and communication using industry best practices (agile, SAFe, ITIL, etc.)
- This role may act independently as a PM for smaller initiatives and/or support the Lead PM for larger initiatives, using an Agile methodology and assist in coordinating additional resources for assigned projects as needed.
- Effective leadership and working relationships established with peers and functional managers.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS
- Facilitates requirements gathering meetings focused on understanding and documenting business and customer needs encompassing Design Tools, and related applications, API services, and reporting.
- Utilizes a variety of tools (e.g., process flow charts, presentations, Azure DevOps) to properly interpret and convey business requirements for senior management, business users, Reps, customers and IT.
- Prepares feasibility studies, cost analyses, timelines, and estimates for business requirements and projects. Assists with determining ROI (return on investment) for specific business features and/or projects.
- Prepares and/or maintains documentation, business processes and user documentation, including knowledge articles and online help tools.
- Create test plans and perform QA tasks related to project work and yearly software updates.
- May assist or be responsible for project plans, timelines and budgets. Maintains project issues and reports to IT management and business owners on progress to critical path items.
- Assists process leaders as needed with training and support.
- Models appropriate behaviors and effective communication skills: quality listening, giving and receiving feedback, giving and receiving assignments, and effective meeting behavior.
- Assists with the general operations of the IT department and performs appropriate tasks as assigned. Works closely with IT members to maximize organizational effectiveness and improve Customer Service.
QUALIFICATIONS
- College degree, business or information services, or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in analysis, implementation and/or improvement of IT applications / systems.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, customer service, written and oral communication skills.
- Well-developed analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to creatively approach situations. Innovative thinker, high personal initiative, and results driven.
- Ability to instruct and mentor others.
- Ability to deal with stressful situations in a composed and constructive manner and handle a variety of tasks.
- Proven ability to learn and understand Product Configuration Tools and Microsoft Technologies or equivalents (Autodesk 2D/3D tools, PIM, D365CE, Azure, PowerBI, Azure DevOps, etc.)
- Able to collaborate and function effectively in a team environment.
- Able and willing to travel as required.
- Able and willing to work on a flexible schedule as required.
- Experience with Product Configuration tools
- Experience with custom application development processes (SAFe, Scrum, Lean)
