Junior Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant goal is to fulfill and adhere to accounting and reporting policies. This includes reviewing and analyzing accounts payables and receivables, recording transactions and accruals. Ensuring compliance with non-profit regulations, and refining reporting documentation. This is all performed all while verifying the integrity and accuracy of financial operations, safeguarding organizational assets, and developing efficient business processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Minimum two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience to include, and reconciliations; understands the chart of accounts, trial balance, and balance sheet.
  • Post payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions in accounting software
  • Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted
  • Reviews purchase orders and contracts for compliance with company and departmental policies.
  • Collaborates with program managers to maximize efficiency in the purchasing and inventory control department.
  • Supporting with month end closings and monthly reconciliations
  • Skilled with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Teams or Zoom teleconferencing platforms as well as experience with standard office equipment.
  • Experience in non-profit and / or grant accounting a plus
  • Demonstrates experience in knowledge of accounting theory and practices for non-profits desirable.
  • Promotes and adheres to company’s mission, vision and values, policies, and applicable laws in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Represents the organization in a professional manner to all customers, vendors, and internal personnel.

  • Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, and ethics when dealing with vendors, co-workers, and customers.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Hourly Salary Rate: $24.52

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or related area strongly preferred; Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
  • Experience with ERP software.
  • At least two years of buying or purchasing experience required with supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
  • May be asked to travel to visit vendors or different company locations.
