Jassby is a fintech company that provides debit and credit card solutions to consumers and to business clients. We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Director of Credit Card Underwriting to join our team. The candidate will play the primary role in developing, validating, and maintaining credit card underwriting models that drive our credit decision-making process. This role requires a strong understanding of statistical modeling, consumer and commercial credit risk assessment, and regulatory compliance. Candidates must have 3+ years of experience in credit risk modeling with credit card underwriting.
Key Responsibilities:
Model Development & Validation:
○ Develop, test, and validate credit card underwriting models using statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms.
○ Ensure models are robust, predictive, and comply with regulatory requirements.
○ Monitor model performance and make necessary adjustments to improve accuracy and
effectiveness.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
○ Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform credit risk strategies.
○ Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management, summarizing model performance and risk assessment outcomes.
Risk Assessment & Mitigation:
○ Evaluate and quantify credit risk associated with potential and existing credit card customers.
○ Adjust credit policies based on model outputs and risk appetite.
○ Provide insights into the impact of economic and industry trends on credit risk and model performance.
Compliance & Documentation:
○ Ensure all models and processes adhere to regulatory requirements, including those set by relevant financial authorities (e.g., OCC, FDIC, etc.).
○ Maintain comprehensive documentation of model development processes, assumptions, and validation activities.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
○ Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, compliance, and product management, to ensure models are integrated smoothly into business processes.
o Provide technical support and training on model interpretation and application.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
● 3+ years of experience in credit risk modeling within credit card underwriting.
● Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., SAS, R, Python).
● Strong understanding of credit risk principles, underwriting processes, and regulatory requirements.
● Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
● Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
● Experience with machine learning algorithms and advanced analytics techniques.
● Familiarity with credit bureau data and credit scoring systems.
● Experience working in a financial services environment with exposure to credit card products.
