We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Technical Writer to join our talented, dynamic team in support of a large Federal Government customer. The Technical Writer will support a dynamic and exciting cybersecurity program for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Duties

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Develop, write, and edit technical documents, including assessment reports, operational procedures, test plans, and rules of engagement.
  • Collaborate with Red Team analysts and technical leads to understand and document technical details of cybersecurity assessments.
  • Ensure all documentation meets organizational standards and customer requirements.
  • Translate complex technical information into easily understandable text for a variety of audiences.
  • Review and revise documents prepared by others and coordinate the preparation of those materials for a consistent presentation.
  • Maintain version control and document management for all deliverables.
  • Ensure all deliverables are submitted on time and in compliance with contract requirements.
  • Support the development of training materials and user guides as needed.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in technical writing and cybersecurity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field – equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in the IT or cybersecurity field
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and terminology
  • Working knowledge of program/project management software (Microsoft Project, Jira, Microsoft 365/Teams applications, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality documentation
  • Proficiency with documentation tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, document management systems)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams and subject matter experts
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in technical writing and documentation
