● Assesses current accounting procedures, implementing changes to improve processes and internal controls if/when necessary.
● Provides a variety of financial reports for the Division based on the needs of the program, event, team, etc.
● Monitors and manages the budget which also involves making necessary budget adjustments through meeting with team leads and/or making educated predictions.
● Oversees all financial postings in the current database, reviewing for accuracy.
● Creates/performs budget transfers to ensure that all expenses and revenues are appropriately reported in Banner, and processes payments when necessary.
● Approves all refunds issued as well as transfers between university departments for fees.
● Reviews ADHE – Arkansas Workforce Challenge Scholarship roster submission for transactional purposes.
● Maintains databases, spreadsheets, and other fiscal reporting mechanisms.
● Researches and analyzes data for preparing and reporting findings to Stakeholders and providing supporting documentation as needed.
● Completes the close-out process for event and class files by reviewing and auditing information for accuracy and quality assurance. This includes gathering required documentation, confirming/processing payment to internal/external vendors as related to files, and sending appropriate invoices to clients/participants.
● Maintains budget documents, labor distribution reports, and other documents.
● Processes supplies and services requisitions for intracampus payments.
● Performs all accounting duties related to budgets and fiscal monthly and year-end closing procedures.
● Performs other fiscal and/or budget-related duties as assigned by SupervisorKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge
- Financial Principles: Understanding of basic and advanced accounting principles, including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
- Financial Reporting: Knowledge of how to prepare and interpret financial statements such as balance sheets and income statements.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Insight into creating and managing budgets and financial forecasts.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in handling financial information and spotting discrepancies.
- Problem-Solving: Capability to troubleshoot financial issues and propose solutions.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with accounting software and tools such as Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Organizational Skills: Efficient management of financial records, deadlines, and multiple tasks.
- Critical Thinking: Evaluates financial situations and makes strategic decisions based on analysis.
