Support both internal and external customers by performing various automotive work according to a well-maintained schedule. Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work area at all times, including clearly labeled and standard locations for all tools and equipment (5S).
  • Ensure special tools and equipment are up to date on calibration certifications
  • Perform efficient and high-quality automotive repairs, upgrades, etc. according to internal customer needs, including, but not limited to:
    • Preventative maintenance
      • Maintaining vehicle maintenance logs for IE Fleet Vehicles
      • Regular inspection of in-service IE vehicles to ensure they are not past due for services
      • Performing the actual maintenance services.
    • Troubleshooting
    • Performance upgrades
    • Rebuilding engines as needed
  • Maintain an up-to-date and transparent project schedule
  • Conduct a weekly prioritization meeting to consolidate internal customer needs and prioritize within the schedule
  • Determine and order parts in advance as part of the scheduling process in order to avoid disruptions
  • Track and report hours per job (planned vs. actual)
  • Assist in training of team members on processes as needed
  • Quick response to team members when issues arise
  • Understand and promote I.E. mission and values at all times and ensure that safety policies and procedures are being followed
  • Exhibit respectful behavior and communication at all times
  • Effectively use metrics and visual management systems to define, measure, and improve performance to both internal and external customers and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Continually develop and train on new skills and processes
  • Confirm that standardized countermeasures/best practices are maintained, sustained, and improved
  • Lead or participate in improvement events
  • Be available to work flexible hours when necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 - 5 years of extensive automotive technical experience (exposure to VW and Audi preferred)
  • Positive attitude at all times
  • Team player with excellent customer service skills
  • Mastery of 5S, waste elimination, and other lean principles
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use ERP system
  • Problem solving: root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Flexible and adaptable to frequent change
  • In depth knowledge of the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of various automotive systems including: engine, transmission, electrical, suspension, brakes, etc.
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional groups such as engineering, sales, etc.
  • Good interpersonal skills (getting along with others)
