Job Title: Purchasing Intern
Reports to: Corporate Purchasing Director
Job Summary
The Purchasing Intern will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s Purchasing Department. This individual will need to be willing to learn and demonstrate excellent communication and organization skills to support the strategy and goals of the Purchasing department.
Essential Duties
- Assist with Supplier Qualification process
- Ability to contact suppliers to request information
- Work collaboratively with internal team members to obtain information needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work from and understand verbal and written instructions
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow company policies and understand any rules or regulations governing the work being completed and impact work has on our department or company
- Strong self-starter attitude
- Ability to communicate in both the written and spoken language of English to a level that will allow the safe and effective performance of the job
- Experienced SQL analyst adept at developing SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets.
- Proficient in database management, data validation and performance optimization
- Designs, documents, codes, tests, and debugs programs using PL/SQL, SQL, HTML, JavaScript, and other necessary languages and tools
Education and Experience Requirements
- Actively enrolled in a degreed program preferably focused on Business, emphasis on Business Law preferred
- Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook experience is desired
Physical Requirements
- Consistent walking, talking, hearing, sitting, standing, repetitive motions, movements requiring fine motors skills and visual acuity
- Occasional carrying, reaching, handling, grasping, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crawling, balancing, stooping
- Work is typically performed in an office environment though certain tasks/projects may occur outside or in a manufacturing environment
- Safety glasses, steel/composite toed shoes, and hearing protection when working in manufacturing environment
