Position Summary

Provide care from birth to early adulthood to promote wellness and preventive care as well as health maintenance and prevention of disease. Specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of ailments specific to young people and track their patients’ growth to adulthood.


Essential Position Duties

  • Examine diagnoses and treats patients from birth to early adulthood.
  • Act as primary consultant on all pediatric cases referred by other staff providers.
  • Provide quality medical care according to established standards.
  • Counsel and guide patients and their parents or guardians regarding diet, essential activities for treating complications, hygiene, and disease preclusion.
  • Collect, record, and maintain details of the patient's information like clinical history, reports, and test outcomes.
  • Completes charting and billing in a timely manner.
  • Analyze patients on a regular basis to evaluate physical and mental growth and development.
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic examinations to get essential data of the patient's medical condition.
  • Explain processes and procedures, and discuss exam outcomes or suggested treatments with patients and their caretakers.
  • Participate in quality assurance procedures such as audits/peer review. Assist in internal quality controls audits.
  • Supervise the condition of patients, and altering and reassessing treatments as necessary.
  • Plan and execute medical care programs to help in mental and emotional development of infants and teenagers.
  • Dictate or administer treatments, therapies, medications, vaccinations, and other particularized medical care to treat or preclude illnesses, disorders, or injuries in infants and teens.
  • Direct the patient to a medical specialist or other practitioner as and when required.
  • Treat adolescents who are suffering from minor maladies, acute and chronic health complications, and physiological and psychological growth and development issues.
  • Perform operation procedures on patients to remove, repair, or meliorate the functioning of wounded body parts and systems.
  • Provide work direction to APRNs and PAs.
  • Perform daily administrative duties during time provided including participation in staff meetings, laboratory & reference reports review & documentation.
  • Correspond with other medical colleagues, school systems, patients and parents.
  • Satisfies all requirements at community hospitals in the area necessary to maintain admitting privileges.
  • Nurse triaged call coverage shared by other Pediatricians.
  • Must maintain appropriate attendance.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as required by management.

  • Compassion and patience – to help patients feel comfortable with them to perform routine procedures

Requirements:
  • MD degree from an accredited medical school
  • Three (3) years of internship and residency

Certification/Licensure

  • Licensure in Connecticut
  • Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics preferred or related experience
