Position Summary

Set-up and operation of machine to manufacture insulated cable products

Essential Functions

  • Responsible to meet production standards by performing quality checks in accordance with ISO quality procedures, and following Process and Manufacturing specification sheets
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing process, meeting production schedules and customer deadlines
  • Must complete written production paperwork neatly and legible
  • Maintain cleanliness of machines including utilizing Jet Printers to print cables according to specifications
  • Perform preventative maintenance functions
  • Communicate and work closely with fellow operators and supervisors to produce quality products
  • Observes safety procedures and use equipment and materials properly
  • Work a full time shift schedule with regular attendance and ability to work overtime as needed

Safety Expectations

  • Obey all safety rules, use caution in work activities, and continuously practice safe behaviors.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision.

Core Competencies

  • Reading comprehension skills to understand written manufacturing specifications and instructions and procedures in English
  • Oral communication skills to exchange information with co-workers and supervisors
  • Good math skills and above average mechanical aptitude necessary
  • Attention to detail is required in machine operation and minimizing scrap
  • Familiar with different wire gauges and handling a variety of products
  • Hands on experience using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring devices

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Frequent bending, stooping, moving within the plant
  • Repetitive pushing and pulling motion of wire cable materials and metal reels
  • Required to talk, hear and demonstrate manual hand and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination to handle machinery, materials, tools and parts
  • Must be able to lift, carry 50 lbs. of objects, materials, product, etc.
  • Maneuver large reels of cable

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One-year manufacturing experience and skills with machinery equipment and troubleshooting desired
  • Cable and wire experience a plus
  • Must have visual acuity and ability to distinguish colors and pass a colorblind test to identify coded cables, products, and material
