Job DescriptionJob Description

The Recycling Technician provides recycling services by following established procedures and guidelines under the guidance of the Production Shift Leader. This includes the collection, inspection, testing and disposal of all recyclable materials.

Days shift- 6pm-6am (two days on, two days off etc.)

Essential Accountabilities

  1. Inspect, grind, weigh, label, stack, bundle and wrap product as required.
  2. Performs sample bake test on each Gaylord of RPET and Apet regrind materials to ensure no cross contamination of materials.
  3. Operates a forklift truck to stage regrind materials for inventory or shipping.
  4. Performs routine maintenance and periodic cleaning of the equipment.
  5. Interact with the thermoforming and extrusion departments to ensure receiving quality scrap.
  6. Prevent cross contamination by ensuring that all materials are properly marked and identified.
  7. Identify nonconforming materials and assist Shift leader with resolution.
  8. Issues regrind materials to an inventory location via a RF scanning gun and conduct other Oracle transactions as needed.
  9. Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment in compliance with OSHA regulations, ISO, GMP's and AIB certification requirements.
  10. Completes all shift documentation e.g. Recycle/regrind log, pallets labels, Gaylord labels.



Minimum Qualifications

Ability to read and write English for safety, quality and training,

Ability to complete forklift certification program

Must be able to identify color variation in materials


Desired Skills

Forklift experience

Experience in a manufacturing environment

Basic computer skills

Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Demonstrated mechanical ability and math skills

Inside (other) - Good Manufacturing Procedures/American Institute of Bakers certified manufacturing environment


Equipment/Tools Used: (office equipment, machinery, tools, software, etc.)

Forklift, Grinders, Balers, RF scanner, Oracle, calculator, computer, baking oven

Physical Requirements:

Light Work (lift 10 lbs): Scrap material (frequently)

Medium Work (lift 11-30 lbs): Scrap material (frequently)

Heavy Work (lift 31-50 lbs): Scrap material (frequently)

Very Heavy Work (lift over 50 lbs): Maneuver rolls of material (1-2/month)

Other Physical Requirements: Bending, stooping, reaching - frequently; climbing, pushing/pulling; standing for long period of time; ability to identify color variations in material.
