George Mason University Korea Office of Admissions invites applications for the position of Admissions Counselor to focus recruitment efforts domestically and internationally for the Mason Korea Campus. Responsibilities:

This is a full-time on-site role as an Admissions Counselor at George Mason University Korea in Songdo International Business District.

The Admissions Counselor is a member of the Office of Admissions & Enrollment team and contributes to the overall recruitment efforts of George Mason University Korea. Responsibilities include representing GMU Korea to a wide and diverse audience on and off campus, traveling several weeks each year both domestically and internationally, corresponding with prospective students and their families. The Admissions Counselor reports to the Interim Assistant Director of Admissions & Enrollment. The pay scale of the position is from 37,000,000 KRW to 42,000,000 KRW per year based on previous working experiences.


Recruitment & Territory Management

• Territory management, including all recruiting and yield activities, within designated domestic and international areas. This entails admissions travel (domestic and international) to participate in college fairs and high school visits and correspondence with a wide spectrum of constituencies including but not limited to students, parents, guidance counselors, high school teachers and community-based organizations..

• Build, maintain, and strengthen a support network consisting of local high school teachers, parents, and friends of the University within designated territories.

• Counsel in person and Tele-counsel with prospective students to encourage campus visits as well as apply for admission; and maintain appropriate follow-up communication with these students and their families regarding the status of their applications for admission.

• Manages daily operations of the Mason Admissions Center. Effectively manage and triage all incoming phone calls, emails, walk-ins and all guests to the office.

• Assist with all forms of communications with prospective students/families, administration, faculty, staff, and George Mason Fairfax.

• Assume other duties as requested by the Interim Assistant Director of Admissions & Enrollment.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required;
  • Excellent oral and written both English and Korean communications skills;


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Technologically literate, comfortable with social media and learning new software;
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate the University’s academic offerings, programs, admission policies, and enrollment procedures to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to multi-task to accomplish work within deadlines while meeting customer service standards, including the ability to successfully deal with frequent interactions with a variety of customers, frequent interruptions by phone and personal inquiries.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete administrative tasks autonomously;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to interact with students, families, and colleagues
  • Exemplary decision-making skills in the absence of direct supervision;
  • Ability to independently manage and complete work assignments without close supervision is mandatory;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Self-motivated, eager to learn and take on new assignments;
  • Ability and experience in designing and creating advertisement and posters - preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record - preferred


WORK ENVIORNMENT

  • Require flexible hours, including occasional evening and weekend hours, with prior notice
  • Work may require some physical exertion (I.e., standing, lifting, moving, etc.)
  • High energy is necessary as it includes heavy travel and night and weekend hours;
  • Some work may be completed outside
